What the opt-in looks like
Adding a mobile number in Settle UP is optional, and it does not enroll you in text messages on its own. To receive SMS reminders you must also check a separate, unchecked-by-default opt-in box shown right next to the number field — exactly as reproduced below:

Program description
Settle UP is an expense-splitting app operated by FSIT Solutions LLC. With your consent, Settle UP sends you SMS text reminders about shared-expense balances you have agreed to split with friends, roommates, or travel companions (for example, a reminder that you owe a friend for a group dinner or trip).
How you opt in
SMS messaging is never required to use Settle UP. Adding a mobile number to your profile (during first-run onboarding or on the Profile screen) does not, by itself, enroll you in text messages. To receive SMS reminders you must take a separate, affirmative action: check the unchecked-by-default "Text me expense reminders" box shown next to the number field. Only after you check that box and save do we send recurring SMS reminders related to your Settle UP balances. Providing a mobile number is optional, you can leave the box unchecked, and you can withdraw consent at any time by unchecking it, removing your number, or replying STOP.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies and is based on your activity — typically a few messages per month, sent only when you have an outstanding balance with another member.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Settle UP does not charge for these messages; your mobile carrier's standard rates apply.
Opting out & help
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you will receive a confirmation and no further reminders. Reply HELP for help, or remove your mobile number on the Profile screen. Opting out of SMS does not affect your ability to use Settle UP.
Privacy
We use your mobile number only to send the reminders described above. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell your mobile number. SMS opt-in consent and phone numbers are never shared with any third parties.
